MINES

Daniel Marini

Daniel Marini, aged 48 – Head of the Tiebaghi mining complex (New Caledonia)

My role is to organise and manage the development of the mining complex under my charge, the arrival of new facilities, the creation of teams, participation in the 75 kt project and studies… in other words, daily life!
My daily tasks? Do everything to facilitate team work and communication among the personnel. Contribute to the company's ongoing development and maturing process by trying to "shift" ways of thinking and habits. Strive for performance and challenge, get my subordinates to do the same and make this a way of working.

SALES

Stéphane DELHOPITAL

Stéphane Delhopital, aged 37 / Market Manager / Holding Company

I'm in charge of the sale of long products to processing and energy customers.

My daily work is characterised by a great variety of tasks and motivated by the passion for human contact.

By variety, I mean that no two days are alike. The sale of our products starts with the knowledge of our markets and its players (marketing strategy targeting customer types and associated competitive environment), the understanding of their specific needs, the search for optimal commercial and technical solutions (taking account of production and costing parameters), negotiation and lastly the payment of the invoice and full customer satisfaction. These activities are further enhanced by the fact that my markets concern two AD plants – Les Ancizes and Firminy – and products as diverse as a 40-ton lingot to laminate crowns for submarines, tubes for helicopter rotors and bars to make tubes for nuclear steam generators.

Passion for human contact is a must as the Market Manager's success primarily rests on team work: this obviously involves the sales and marketing team dedicated to my markets lead by Serge Bonnard and Laurent Pouzol, but also my production colleagues and technical experts, headed by the Product Manager, a key position held by Jean Noël Locquet for most of my products. Yet, this success would not be complete nor long-lasting without the creation of dynamic relations with customers, often of the partnership type, which must be developed and maintained daily with the help of the network on which I rely. I travel extensively, to see our French and international customers and to the various AD sites.

Richard LAWRENCE

Richard Lawrence, dual French-British nationality, aged 41 – Subsidiary Manager - Eramet Latin America Ltda (Sao Paulo, Brazil)

My responsibilities: ensure the Group's commercial development in Latin America, a diverse and varied continent in economic terms. The subsidiary, which was created in 2002, is located in Brazil where most of our customers are.
With a local team of 9 people, we work with all Group divisions. We sometimes have to show great flexibility in order to adapt to local customs.
Challenge is ever present. The market is demanding but with in-depth knowledge of our lines of business and a real desire to be of service to our customers, the work becomes captivating!
My daily tasks? A lot of commercial work, management work, financial work and human resource work. Being the Manager of a foreign subsidiary is fascinating and makes it possible to discover a large array of duties!

Jean-Yves BLANDIN

Jean-Yves Blandin, aged 37 – Head of the Calcination/Fusion Department

Working at the heart of the plant, the 300 people in the Calcination/Fusion Department produce approximately 250,000 t of liquid metal from ore combined with a reducing agent. With the help of 5 managers, I deploy action plans aimed at achieving the objectives set, particularly as concerns the safety of people and goods, the production level specified by the commissioning refinery, environmental protection, and budget commitments. We operate and maintain an array of metallurgical facilities under continuous production (3 electric kilns rated at over 150 MVA, 5 rotary calcination kilns, 1 coal drying/grinding workshop, 1 energy recovery boiler, 1 dust extrusion workshop, flow management components, etc.).
Managing the social aspects of the Department is just as exciting as managing its technical aspects.
