Safety measures have been progressively strengthened within the ERAMET Group since 1999, when a ‘safety coordinator’ was appointed at Group level.
In June 2003, the role was attached to the Human Resources Directorate and enhanced to include the whole of Health and Hygiene.
Far-reaching initiatives were taken on the ground at the three divisions, including audits, training, regular monitoring of guidelines and the creation of a ‘safety club’ to share best practice.
These efforts have produced tangible results. Between 1999 and 2009, the frequency rate of work-related accidents fell from 24 to 5.
