R&D is at the heart of ERAMET’s programme of profitable, lasting and harmonious growth.

Innovation in processes and the development of new products are key to making the Group more distinctive and competitive and accelerating its growth.

• A qualitative leap in powder metallurgy, with purer high-speed steel produced using the Dvalin process (Erasteel)
• New grades of stainless steel developed by Aubert et Duval for the production of aircraft landing gear, allowing surface treatments to be eliminated
• Two new product ranges, Next® and Keen®, at Eurotungsten: pre-alloyed powders, which are less expensive and better in terms of performance than cobalt-based powders
  

•  A new nickel ore enrichment plant, tailor-made for the new mine in Tiebaghi (New Caledonia)
  
  
• Modernisation of piloting at the manganese ore washing plant owned by Comilog (Gabon), as part of the programme to increase capacity
  
  
• Hydrometallurgical processing of nickel oxide ore: the group's research centre has developed a new, innovative and competitive process for processing low-grade nickel oxide ore. The process will be implemented at the Weda Bay deposit in Indonesia. It is also perfectly suited for ore of the type found in New Caledonia.

• new equipment allowing for a substantial reduction in emissions from the Doniambo plant (New Caledonia) and the recycling of dust
• a new process allowing for an increase in the recycling of raw materials in Söderfors (Sweden) for the production of special steels
