ORE:

Manganese ore

Comilog ore is oxidised (MnO2) and takes the form of bedrock ore (5-75 mm) or fines (2-10 mm).

Main characteristics:
- Very high manganese content: 45 - 50 %, depending on the grade.
- Reactivity: a result of the high degree of oxidation of the ore; allows reduced energy consumption and improved yields.
- Broad granulometric distribution, which favours reactivity while preserving the permeability of the load.

Sintec® sinter: Comilog has an industrial unit for the sintering of ore fines. The sinter produced has 58 per cent nickel content, the highest on the market. Its sintering capacity is 600 KT/year.

ALLOYS:

There are two families of alloys: ferromanganese alloys (FeMn with 78 - 82 % manganese content) and silicomanganese alloys (SiMn with 60 - 70 % manganese content and 17 - 30 % silicium content).

They take the form of pieces, usually sold in 20 x 80 mm, 10 x 50 mm and 3 x 25 mm sizes. They are delivered either in bulk or packed in big bags.

Within each family there are different products according to the maximum guaranteed carbon grade:

Ferromanganese:
HC FeMn 8 % C max
MC FeMn 1.5 or 1.0 % C max
LC FeMn 0.5 % max

Silicomanganese:
SiMn  2 % C max
LC SiMn 0.1 or 0.05 % C max

CHEMICALS:

Chongzuo plant - China

Erachem-Comilog, benefiting from its integration with Comilog, the Manganese division of ERAMET, is the world leader in manganese-based chemical derivatives. We offer a varied portfolio of products, based on our high-grade ore mined in Gabon and made at our US, Mexican, Belgian and now Chinese sites: MnO2 (NMD-Natural Manganese Dioxide, EMD-Electrolytic Manganese Dioxide, CMD-Chemical Manganese Dioxide), Mn3O4, MnSO4, MnO, MnCO3, Mn(NO3)2, MnCl2, LiMn2O4 etc.

As European leader, Erachem Comilog developed a recycling business at its Belgian site, which generates etching solutions for engraving printed circuits using copper-bearing waste from the electronics industry. The copper extracted from this waste is then upgraded in the form of salts and oxides (CuO and COC – copper oxychloride).
